Lot: 1060

George I (1714-1727), 'Welsh Copper Company' Shilling, 1723, second laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, WCC below, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, plumes and CC in angles, seven strings to harp, obliquely milled edge, 5.92g, 6h (Bull 1592 [R2]; ESC 1180; Spink 3650), a nick at reverse 3 o'clock, rubbed with an uneven field before face, otherwise light natural tone, strictly fine / good fine, very rare

Provenance
Purchased privately, 2000

Bull notes 'mixed sized lettering on the reverse' which is very true here. There is the usual slanting colon between A:TH, but the T is over something (another T?) and the H is clearly two Is with a crossbar added so weakly it can only be seen with difficulty.
