George I (1714-1727), 'South Sea Company' Shillings, 1723 (8), first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust, rev. crowned shields cruciform, seven strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 5.63g, 5h; another, six strings, 5.86g, 6h; another, six strings, 5.70g, 6h; and, seven strings, 5.44g, 5h; another, six strings, 5.76g, 6h (Bull 1586; ESC 1176), variable state, highly rubbed and poor to almost fine and in between, some toned; additionally, similar, 'French Arms at Date', no colon between A TH, 5.71g, 6h (Bull 1589 [R2]; ESC 1177), gilt and pierced, struck details good; another, C over SS in fourth quarter, seven strings to harp, 5.89g, 6h (Bull 1590; ESC 1176A; Spink 3647), almost fine, the variety clear; lastly, second bust, rev. six strings, 5.71g, 6h (Bull 1591; ESC 1178; Spink 3648), rubbed and toned, good / fair (8)
