George I (1714-1727), 'Roses and Plumes' Shillings (3), 1723, second laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, roses and plumes in angles, seven strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 5.88g, 6h (Bull 1593; ESC 1179), rubbed and lightly cleaned, with some striking softness at date, otherwise a bold fine; another, 1724, similar, rev. seven strings to harp, 1724, six strings to harp, 5.96g, 5h (Pywell-Phillips 276; L'Abbaye 340; Bull 1594; ESC 1181; Spink 3649), cleaned with patchy toning, otherwise residually lustrous, the reverse darkly toned, very fine, the reverse bolder, very scarce; lastly, 1725, as first, rev. six strings, 5.70g, 6h (Bull 1597; ESC 1183; Spink 3649), rubbed flat, darkly toned, about good, scarce (3)
