William III (1694-1702), Great Recoinage, London, Sixpence, 1697, third laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. large crowned shields cruciform, plain angles, late harp with four strings, obliquely milled edge, 3.02g, 6h (Bull 1233; ESC 1566; Spink 3538), delightfully choice even for this commonly encountered issue even in high grade, a patch of darker staining in fourth quarter of reverse, otherwise uniform gun-metal tone overlying lustrous original surfaces, mint flare breaking through at recesses, a small die break across breast, otherwise practically as struck
