(x) The Blues and Royals: an Officer's 1871 Pattern Helmet, c. late-19th Century

The German Silver skull with brass trim and all other fittings in good-quality gilt metal, the front plate with central silver-beaded star, overlaid with a gilt-pierced Garter on a blue enamel backing, the St. George's Cross in red enamel within a gilt frame. Large gilt rose-pattern side ornaments and graduated velvet-lined gilt chin chain, the plume holder in gilt and silver plate, complete with red yak hair plume, this having a large gilt rose finial, tan leather sweat band with attached red silk trim.
