42nd Division Vickers Machine Gun Competition 1928 commemorative token, named to the rim 'L/Cpl. J. W. Gilbert', in its F. Philips, of Aldershot fitted case of issue, very fine

John William Gilbert entered the war with the 8th (Reserve) Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers on 22 October 1915. At some stage transferring to the Machine Gun Corps he served with 42nd (The East Lancashire) Division being demobilised on 6 March 1919; sold together with copied medal rolls and M.I.C. as well as a number of copied photographs.
