British War and Victory Medals (25444 Pte. A. E. Southgate. R. War. R.), mounted as worn with Birmingham Peace Celebration Commemorative Medal 1919 minor contact marks and edge bruising, very fine (2)

Alfred Edward Southgate was born in 1876 and lived at 104 Langthorne Street, Fulham prior to enlisting on 31 January 1917 and was posted to the Garrison Battalion of the Worcestershire Regiment on 8 February 1917. Transferring to the Garrison Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment on 30 July he was posted to Abbassia on 21 August 1917. Attached to No. 26 Stationary Hospital Ismailia on 6 December he was officially transferred to the Royal Army Medical Corps on 8 February 1918. Promoted Lance-Corporal on 13 January 1919 he was demobilised on 15 September 1919.
