George Worthy Coster was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Indian Army on 22 July 1918. He served as a Company Officer with the 11th Rajputs and was then attached to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Gurkha Rifles in 1921. The I.G.S. was returned and re-issued in May 1923.
