Henry George Albert Timmis was born at West Darby, Lancashire in January 1854. Promoted Lieutenant within the Royal Naval Reserve on 29 December 1896 he retired on 19 January 1907 with the rank of Commander. By the time of the Great War Timmis was serving as a Merchant Navy Captain however he returned to service on 21 September 1917 giving signalling courses at H.M.S. Victory. Later posted to President for service at Sheerness he was demobilised on 20 May 1919. Timmis died ten years later at Liverpool on 24 April 1929; sold together a miniature Royal Naval Reserve Officer's Decoration, E.R.VII issue in its case of issue.
