John Henry Westcott was born at Marylebone, London in 1894. Enlisting at London with the 3rd County of London Yeomanry he entered the war in Egypt with the 21st Squadron, Machine Gun Corps (Cavalry). He served for some time both there and in Palestine before falling ill while at Haifa on 12 October 1918. Transported back to Alexandria he died there on 16 October 1918 and was buried at Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery; sold together with copied auction listing, medal rolls, war diary entries and casualty rolls.
