(x) Three: Bombardier A. Raison, 1st Battery, 45th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, who tragically was taken prisoner on 27 May 1918 and died of wounds sustained in his capture on Christmas Day 1918

Albert Raison was born at Shortlands, Kent around 1887, the son of Sarah Raison. He entered the war with the rank of Gunner in 1st Battery, 45th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery on 6 November 1914. At some stage promoted Bombardier he reverted to the rank of Gunner on 22 May 1918 and only a few days later on 27 May was taken prisoner during the German Spring Offensive. Wounded by this time he survived for some time as a prisoner but died on 25 December 1918 having lived beyond the end of the war he had fought for over four years. Raison is buried at Niederzwehren Cemetery, Kessel; sold together with copied research including M.I.C. and census data as well as copied photographs of the recipient's gravesite along with an original photograph, named to the reverse.
