Victory Medal 1914-1919 (24268. 1. A.M. C. A. Charlesworth. R.A.F.), good very fine
Charles Allen Charlesworth was born at St. Phillips, Nottingham in 1888. Enlisting with the Royal Flying Corps on 1 March 1916 he was appointed Aircraftman Class II being promoted Aircraftman Class I on 1 August of that year. Charlesworth served with 49 Squadron and later 65 Squadron as a Coppersmith. Found to be infected with Influenza on 13 June 1918 and sent to Hospital, he was discharged to No. 22 Wing on 5 August but suffered a resurgence of the disease on 8 August and returned to Hospital; sold together with O.H.M.S. envelope addressed to the recipient at 11 Brighton Street, Nottingham.
