1914-15 Star (R.M.B. 2069, Mus. E.W. Millard.), very fine

Eric William Millard was born in September 1897 and joined the Band of the Royal Marines in December 1912. Initially classed as a 'Band Boy', he progressed to 'Musician' a year later and served during the Great War on various ships and establishments including H.M.S. Impregnable, Exmouth and King Alfred and at the Royal Naval School of Music. Additionally entitled to a British War Medal, Allied Victory Medal, and Long Service & Good Conduct Medal, Millard's character was continuously assessed as 'Very Good' and his ability as either 'Satisfactory' or 'Superior'. He was discharged from the service in October 1932, noted as 'Below Physical Standard for Royal Marines'.
