In The Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal, by Tamplin lists just 23 such awards to the Force.

James Reginald Gleadell was born on 19 August 1891 at Walker Creek on the Falkland Islands. He was a shepherd by trade and was married to Lilian Agnes Aldridge on 3 December 1917 at Christ Church Cathedral.

A member of the Defence Force, he enlisted on 23 June 19090, served during the Great War and was awarded his Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal in 1930 (Falkland Islands Gazette 1 June 1930). A member of the Falkland Islands Rifle Team, he was part of the team that won the Junior Kolapore Challenge Cup at Bisley in both 1930 and 1934. He also served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War and travelled back home from the Royal Naval Barracks, Devonport on the Darro in November 1946. Gleadell died on 23 March 1964.
