A good Great War M.C. group of three awarded to Second-Lieutenant (Acting Captain) H. S. Powell, Royal Warwickshire Regiment for gallantry in action in 1917

M.C. London Gazette 22 March 1918, the original citation states:
2nd Lt. (A./Capt.) Harry Stanger (sic) Powell, R. War. R.
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. His company being enfiladed by the enemy, he led a party and captured the position under heavy machine-gun fire. He then reorganised his company and continued the original advance.
Harry Stanyer Powell initially served with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force from July 1916 before transferring to the Western Front, where he won a well-deserved Military Cross. He was wounded at the Battle of Broodseinde (4 October 1917) and died a day later; he was subsequently buried at Dozinghem Military Cemetery. The son of Harry and Edith Powell of Carlton House, Albrighton, Wolverhampton, his medals were sent to that address in 1922.
