Charles Hunt Ford was born at Nottingham in 1889, the son of Edwin and Emma Ford of 24 Clarendon Street, Nottingham. Working as a painter prior to enlisting at Nottingham with the Royal Fusiliers he was posted to 24th (2nd Sportsmans) Battalion and joined the war in France on 15 November 1915. On 13 November 1916 they were part of an assault upon the lines between Beaumont-Hamel and Serre during the opening day of the Battle of Acre. Hunt is listed as one of those wounded in the Battalion war diary, he died of his wounds three days later on 16 November 1916 and is buried in Couin British Cemetery; sold together with copied research including census information, Commonwealth War Graves details and M.I.C. along with medal rolls and a Battalion war diary extract.
