Benjamin Louis Morgan was born in 1895 and was the son of Benjamin Louis and Mary Ann Morgan, of 16 Townsend Yard, Union Street, Southwark, London. Morgan served in France with the 8th Battalion, The Buffs from 31 August 1915 and was killed in action less than a month later at the Battle of Loos on 26 September 1915, when his unit took no less than 558 casualties whilst attacking the German second line near Chalk Pit. Morgan is commemorated upon the Loos Memorial.
