Queen's Sudan 1896-98 (4226, Pte. J. Covell, 1/Northd. Fus:), mounted court-style for display, several small edge knocks, otherwise very fine

James Covell of Newcastle-on-Tyne, attested for the Northumberland Fusiliers in 1894 having seen previous service in the 3rd (Militia) Battalion of the same regiment. He was with the Fusiliers during the Sudan Expedition and the Occupation of Crete (1898), and in South Africa from 1899-1902. Additionally entitled to the Khedive's Sudan Medal (with clasp for Khartoum), Queen's South Africa Medal (clasps Orange Free State, Transvaal, Belmont, Modder River) and King's South Africa Medal (clasps South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902), he returned home and was discharged at his own request in 1906; sold together with copied service papers.
