Royal Fleet Reserve L.S. & G.C. G.V.R. (Ply.11670 B.1192 H. Lonsdale. Mne. R.F.R.), good very fine

Harry Lonsdale was born at Hulme, Manchester on 3 March 1885. He was a french polisher by trade upon joining the Royal Marines at Manchester in July 1907. During the Great War he twice granted pay for the destruction of enemy vessels:

Destruction of G-194, 25-26 March 1915, whilst aboard Cleopatra. She formed part of the Harwich force and was a light cruised which rammed and cut in two the German torpedo boat, for the loss of all 93 of her crew.

Destruction of Meteor, 9 August 1915, who had previously sunk the Ramsey. As the cruisers closed and fired, the enemy vessel decided to scuttle her, with the survivors being picked up.

Lonsdale was discharged on 9 July 1919.
