Three: Private F. Jeynes, 4th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment, who was killed in action on 6 August 1915

Frederick Jeynes served with the 4th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment during the Great War. Entering the War in France on 12 December 1914. Posted to Gallipoli, Jeynes survived the early stages of the landings but was killed during a major offensive on 6 August 1915. The 4th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment was particularly heavily engaged on that occasion, attempting to secure a section of trench designated H13. Enfiladed by machine gun fire the Battalion was cut to ribbons with very few men arriving at the enemy trenches uninjured and those that did being swiftly driven off by counter-attacks. Jeynes is commemorated upon the Hellas memorial; sold together with copied research including an M.I.C., Commonwealth War Graves details and an extract from The August Action at Helles.
