John Harp was born at Wimbledon, London. Enlisting with the Queen's Own (Royal West Kent) Regiment at Wimbledon on 19 January 1915, he served in France from 29 April 1915. Joining 'A' Company, 1st Battalion at the start of May 1915, he was wounded on 28 May 1915 with a gunshot wound to the leg. Returning to his unit on 5 August 1915 he was killed in action on 22 July 1916 when his Battalion was engaged at High Wood. Harp is commemorated upon the Thiepval Memorial; sold together with copied research including M.I.C., Commonwealth War Graves details and service records.
