Three: Private J. F. Huskisson, 2nd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, who joined his Battalion underage, only to be killed in action on the First Day of the Battle of the Somme, 1 July 1916, just two months after his 18th birthday

James Frederick Huskisson was born at Sheerness, Kent in 1898, the son of James and Bertha Huskisson of the Mines Rescue Station, Mansfield. His father was the Superintendent and first Chief Instructor at the Mansfield Woodhouse Mines Rescue Station from 1909-1929. Educated at Brunts School and a former member of the Mansfield Swimming Club, Huskisson joined his Battalion (underage) and landed in France on 14 November 1915 at the age of 17. At the First Battle of the Somme the 2nd Battalion Royal Fusiliers took part in the assault on Beaumont-Hamel. Huskisson was killed in action on 1 July 1916 and is commemorated upon the Thiepval Memorial; sold together with copied research including Commonwealth War Graves details, M.I.C. and personal details of the recipient along with photographs of him and his father.
