Cecil George Ashman was born at Bowes Park, London, in 1898, the son of Isaac and Emily Ashman of 23 Clarence Road, Bowes Park, Wood Green, London. Enlisting on 7 September 1914 with the 7th (Reserve) Battalion, Middlesex Regiment at Hornsey, Middlesex. He entered the war in France on 1 September 1915 with 2/7th Battalion Middlesex Regiment and was transferred to 1/7th Battalion on 23 June 1916. This unit was involved in fighting at Falfemont Farm on 16 September 1916, during which Ashman was killed. He is commemorated upon the Thiepval Memorial; sold together with copied research including Commonwealth War Graves details, M.I.C. and copied memorial scroll.
