Sidney Bateman was born at 1897, the son of Henry and Jane Bateman of Walsall Wood, Staffordshire. Enlisting in May 1916, Bateman served in France from August 1917. He was killed on 11 September 1917 while his Battalion undertook a tour of the trenches in the Ypres Salient and is buried at Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery; sold together with copied research including M.I.C., Commonwealth War Graves details and a copied extract from the War Diary with typed research.
