Edward Cresswell lived at 64 Lenton Boulevard, Nottingham and enlisted on 1 December 1915 with 1st/7th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment). Embarking on 29 March 1916 for France Cresswell was killed in action on the First Day of the Somme on 1 July 1916, he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial; sold together with copied service records, Commonwealth War Graves details and M.I.C.
