William John Collier was born at Cardiff, Glamorgan in January 1982 the son of John 'Jack' and Esther Collier of 34 Salisbury Road, Barry. He worked as a Railway Porter at Barry later advancing to Brakesman prior to enlisting at Cardiff with the 2nd Battalion, Welsh Regiment. Serving in France from 29 July 1915, he was involved an attack in the area of Hulluch during the Battle of Loos and killed in action on 26 September 1915; sold together with a typed biographical note.
