William Benjamin Bumford was born at Barry and lived at 5 Daniel Street, Cadoxton, Barry. Enlisting at Ferndale he was first posted to the 17th Battalion (1st Glamorgan), Welsh Regiment before transferring to the 18th Battalion (2nd Glamorgan), Welsh Regiment. He was killed in action on 12 January 1918 and is buried at Mory-Abbey Military Cemetery.
