Harry Wilson was born at Grange-on-Sands, Lancashire. Enlisting at Manchester with the 6th Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment, Wilson entered the war on 7 September 1915 at Gallipoli. Following the evacuation in December 1915 they were sent first to Egypt and then Mesopotamia. Here the Battalion took part in General Gorringe’s attempts to relieve Kut-Al-Amara and on one of these attempts on 9 April 1916 Wilson was killed. He is commemorated upon the Basra Memorial; sold together with copied research including M.I.C. and Commonwealth War Graves details.
