Victory Medal 1914-19 (17229 Pte. W. Williams. G. Gds.), edge bruise, minor contact wear, very fine

William Williams was born at Barry, Glamorgan and enlisted in Newport, Monmouthshire. Serving in France from 19 January 1915 he served with the 1st Battalion, Grenadier Guards. Williams was killed in action on 24 August 1918 when the 3rd Guards Brigade attacked the village of St. Leger, during this attack the Battalion suffered particularly heavily from machine gun fire from the copses of Hally and Mory. He is buried in the Croisilles British Cemetery, Pas De Calais; sold together with typed research.
