John Francis Oliver enlisted in the Royal Devon Yeomanry during the Great War and was commissioned into the 10th Devons in October 1917. According to his M.I.C. he saw service in Gallipoli, Egypt and Salonica. Surviving the war, his medals were sent to him in Paignton, south Devon.
