The St. Albans Collection of English Gold Coins | NGC XF40 | William and Mary (1688-1694), Guinea, 1690, "D over G in DEI Error", stop after GRATIA, conjoined laureate busts right, rev. crowned and garnished shield, three lis in both upper and lower quadrant of first quarter, no pearls between lis or jewels of crown, edge obliquely milled, 8.33g, 6h (cf. MCE 150; Farey 322 [ER]; EGC - [cf. 366] // Bull Crown 1 [NN2]; Shield 2w; Spink 3425), struck soft on portraiture as typical for issue, nevertheless with much residual lustre, good fine / approaching very fine, the legend error exceptionally clear with the type very seldom encountered at public auction, the reverse variety UNPUBLISHED with no comparable across the entirety of the William and Mary series as recorded by Bull, with NGC 'St Albans' Certification, graded XF40 (#6295553-021)
