The St. Albans Collection of English Gold Coins | NGC MS62 | James II (1685-1688), Guinea, 1686, second laureate bust left, rev. crowned shields cruciform, five strings to harp, emblem-adorned plain sceptres in angles, edge obliquely milled, 8.28g, 6h (MCE 126; Farey 280; EGC 324; Spink 3402), a small flaw on hair and a trace of flecking in fourth quarter of reverse, otherwise a handsomely balanced and compact striking, sharp devices accentuated by lustrous and somewhat frosty obverse surfaces, the reverse enhanced by a light ochre tone ensnaring inwards from the peripheries on reverse, a really pleasingly bold very fine and much as issued, with NGC 'St Albans' Certification, graded MS62 (#6295553-017)
