IN • OCVLIS • NRIS • Royal Shield set atop Tudor Rose, spandrels plain, 13.76g, 4h, m.m. rose (Stewartby [2001], dies A/c; AHH Virtual 159 same dies; Ryan 359 same dies; Drabble 165 same dies; Haswell = Lingford 880 same dies; Lockett 2071 same obverse die; North 2079; Spink 2613), a trace of double striking to obverse resulting in haziness to central devices, otherwise bright and lustrous on a full flan, the legends and Royal shield delightfully crisp and uniform, the portrait very fine, the environs boldly so / the reverse approaching extremely fine, rare thus, with NGC 'St Albans' Certification, graded AU58 (#6295553-009)
