1865 (25 Apr.) long blue envelope to Bordeaux bearing 1862-64 4d. vermilion plate 4 with 1865-67 1/- green single (2), pair, strip of three and block of four tied by "466" numerals with Liverpool registered oval datestamp in red, with London ovelapping circles "registered/pd/london" in red (26.4), French "chargé" in red, Calais transit and some rate marks; the reverse with some transit marks and the arrival c.d.s. (27.4). The French wax seals have been removed and there is some peripheral wrinkling, as to be expected from this heavy-weight cover. Photo

The French charged the same for registration as for postage, thus each weight band was 8d. (4d. postage plus 4d. registration), making this a 17 fold rate
