1872 (1 Aug.) small envelope to Paris bearing 1872-73 6d, chestnut, plate 11, MA tied by London W.C. barred oval with the registered despatch c.d.s. at left, marked "Registered" with "chargé" in black with Calais transit and various and "no value", manuscript numbers, the reverse with an array of transit marks and manuscript instructions including "ab(sence) en instance jusqu'au reclamation" and "Refusé par ordre du destinateur" and French Dead Letter Office c.d.s. A good cover paying postage 3d. and registration 3d.
