The balance of the left over sheet of Penny Stamps not used on the postal notices of 1841 was utilised by Perkins, Bacon for their perforation experiment. This gauge was used for some of the issues of the West Indies. The known examples are this strip of five, the adjoining block of ten, and a used block of four in the Royal Collection
