Line Engraved: Trial Separations
Archer Perforating Machine
Paper Experiment: a trial sheet of plain paper with twenty four labels (6x4) and in inscribed "Piquage 16" in ink. This specimen uses the comb designed by Wiggins as comb A/B and displays the misaligned vertical and horizontal lines of perforations that is characteristic of the Archer machine. The perforation pattern matches the G to L columns of the 1d. Line Engraved stamps. There are some split perforations and hinge reinforcements. Ex Ferrary, Nissen, Hind, Beaumont and Adams. Photo
