The Remarkable "Ellerby Area" Hoard of English Gold Coins (1610-1727) | Charles II (1660-1685), Guinea, 1680, fourth laureate head right, rev. no stop after HIB, crowned shields cruciform, emblem-adorned sceptres in angles, five strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 7.94g [122.5grns], 6h (PAS: YORYM-18E848 = BM 2019 T668/96 this coin; MCE 82; Farey 210; EGC 272 five strings not noted; Spink 3344), a scuff on cheek and a bruise at 11 o'clock, otherwise bright and residually lustrous across heavily circulated fields, scarcely good but entirely legible, with NGC 'Ellerby' Certification (#6380983-096)
