The Remarkable "Ellerby Area" Hoard of English Gold Coins (1610-1727) | NGC AU53 | Charles II (1660-1685), Guinea, 1679, 'short' CAROLVS', fourth laureate head right, rev. no stop after HIB, crowned shields cruciform, emblem-adorned sceptres in angles, five strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 8.22g [126.9grns], 6h (PAS: YORYM-18E848 = BM 2019 T668/91 this coin; MCE 80; Farey 200; EGC 267; Spink 3344), bright and lustrous with scant bagmarks, a small scratch in second quarter, otherwise a bolder striking on a full flan, about very fine, with NGC 'Ellerby' Certification, graded AU53 (#6380983-091)
