The Remarkable "Ellerby Area" Hoard of English Gold Coins (1610-1727) | NGC XF45 | Charles I (1625-1649), Group B, Class Ia, Unite, 27 April 1627 - 3 July 1628, Tower (under King), (m.m.) • CAROLVS D .' G .' MAG .' BR .' FR .' ET HI .' REX, crowned 3a bust 2a left, the portrait refined, wearing ruff, XX behind, rev. FLORENT CONCORDIA REGNA (m.m. to left), no stops, second 'lofty' double-arched-and-jewelled crowned square-topped shield 3a in light-garnished mantle, plain harp F with six strings, 8.95g [138.2grns], 6h, m.m. rounded-fluked anchor upright / straight-fluked anchor upright [57] (PAS: YORYM-18E848 = BM 2019 T668/54 this coin; Brooker 46/47 same reverse die; Schneider II, 124/126; North 2148; Spink 2687), hints of lustre and orange-red tone in recesses, some die wear to second quarter of shield as exhibited with the die-matched Brooker coin, a really good fine to almost very fine, with NGC 'Ellerby' Certification, graded XF45 (#6380983-054)
