1840 (Nov. 22) wrapper from Ballantrae to Ayr bearing 1d. black Plate 4 with good to large margins all round, cancelled by pen and ink asterisk in black, some general wear and light (reduced) staining though a rare and visually striking example not recorded by Rockoff and Jackson, believed to be the unique recorded example of this cross.
