Postal History
1839 (c.) a charming small note (85x93mm) from William Mulready to Sir Henry Cole (secretary to the Mercantile Committee for advancing the cause of Penny Postage in 1838"), Mulready writes "My dear Mr Cole I shall not be able to visit you on Sunday morning, but I shall be glad to receive your breakfasters in my painting room when you shall have put them in good humour..."; fine. A rare and delightful letter between two key figures intimately involved in the introduction of Penny Postage. Sir Henry Cole gained one of the four premiums in the Treasury Competition of 1839 and next to Rowland Hill, was the most indefatigable proponent of Penny Postage
