1822 (24 Nov.) entire letter from Caracas, addressed to Thos Parsons, General Post Office Dublin, with superb (Crown)/oval "to.be.delivered/free", the letter from General D'Evereux, Commander of Simon Bolivar's "foreign legion" and a notorious smuggler during the Wars of Indepencence in South America, with contents reading "Enclosed my dear Parson are three letters which I beg leave to commit to your special care - I am just setting out for Quito......."; a clean and light filing fold runs through the handstamp, otherwise fine.
