1833 (1 July) double rate entire letter from London to Bermuda, marked "paid" and "p. Mutine Packet" from Falmouth to Halifax and Cunard Schooner Forte to Bermuda, rated "4/4" and with fine London Paid datestamp on face. A clean and attractive cover carried on the second Cunard trip from Halifax. Photo
Note: In July 1833 the Admiralty discontinued its Bermuda-Halifax service and contracted it to Samuel Cunard. The Cunard Line carried mail to and from Bermuda by one route or another until 1866. During this period Cunard used five sailing vessels to carry mail from Bermuda to Halifax and return. From Halifax mail was carried by an Admiralty packet to Great Britain or the United States.
