Australia: 1854 (9 June) envelope to Sydney "per 'Great Britain' June 5th 1854" bearing 1/- green die 2 (cut square, good margins, just cut into at left) tied by London "26" numeral and large "3" handstamp (for a non-contract voyage), the reverse with faint "Enfield", London c.d.s., with Ship Letter (10.6) and Sydney (22.8) c.d.s. A few light age marks, a good cover. Photo

The 'Great Britain' was delayed leaving Liverpool due to engine troubles. On arrival in Melbourne it was quarrentined due to Small Pox on board. Finally transferred to the 'Lady Jocelyn' for transport to Sydney
