A149, 1840 (12 July) envelope from Birmingham addressed to Limerick cancelled by red Maltese Cross, uprated by 1d. paid in cash, showing manuscript "1", Birmingham datestamp and boxed "paid" datestamp. for the following day. The reverse with Limerick arrival c.d.s (14.6). The Mulready was "improved" with manuscript comments "Ceylon or Sea long, Old China, Doing butterfly, Bow-Wow, Learning to swim, How era you old boy, Lord Durham and friends".
