This medal represents the Hanoverian response to the Stuart family's claim of Succession. Ordered by George II, this medal was intended to provide a suitable gift for distinguished visitors. In reality it might also have served as a direct riposte to the earlier Jacobite medal with its rather mysterious legends. In contrast, George's children are all specifically named.
