Charles II, AR 'Presentation' Medal, c. 1683, by J. Roettier, CAROL • II • D • G • ANGL• SCOT• FRAN • ET • HIB • REX •, armoured and draped bust right, rev. Royal arms within the Garter, supporters and crest, motto on ribbon, DIEV • ET • MON • DROIT in exergue, plain edge, 53mm, 69.63g (Eimer 267; MI 595/277; Payne 221), some nailmarks to fields and edges, otherwise with brilliant surfaces beneath iridescent cabinet toning, most attractive in hand, about extremely fine and rare, an extraordinary piece of 17th Century numismatic artistry!

The portrait of the King places the medal in the latter half of Charles' reign. The medal is not known to record any particular event, however it is probable that it was intended for distribution as presents by the King.
