This modern reverse design resembles that of the 1845-1847 currency crown series, the difference being the omission of the floral ornament below the shield and different lettering styles and sizes. There were no currency crowns struck for general use between 1853 and 1887, and this modern pattern struck in 2000 serves to show how an intermediate Victoria currency crown could have looked.
