William Turner was born in 1889 and lived at Glossop Derby, enlisting with the Northumberland Fusiliers on 27 April 1915. He served with the 10th Battalion in France winning the Military Medal twice in late 1917. Turner was wounded in action during the German Spring Offensive and was discharged on 9 August 1918.
